AEGIS Shoreline Project

Having previously worked with Aegis on a large wall artwork for their Alkimos Shorehaven Lobby we were delighted to be asked to design, create and install the largescale wall mounted artwork and suspended sculpture at the new Coogee Aged Care Facility.

The project consisted of two separate projects that worked together to create a stunning entry to the facility.

Suspended Fish Sculpture

A suspended sculpture of 180 individual fused glass fish creates a swirling school high above the foyer. The fish are each hung on wires from a suspended teardrop shaped ceiling piece and sit from 5000mm to 9000mm above floor level.

Each fish was cut from fusible glass and decorated with glass frit in a variety of blues before being fused and slumped into their unique curves. From the second and third floor, residents are able to look directly at the fish, as the light sparkles through the coloured glass and shadows are cast.

Wall Mounted Artwork

A majestic pod of whales playing in the ocean is presented to guests as a welcome reminder of the ocean that Aegis Shoreline sits on. The whales were created on nine huge slumped glass panels and mounted on the wall as one picture.

The entire artwork is 6000mm high and 2600mm wide, 12mm think and weights 660kg. It took three of the Perth Art Glass crew to install the panels.
