Architectural Art
Stained glass has long been a medium where art meets architecture—its luminous presence shaping sacred spaces, civic buildings, and contemporary interiors alike. Though rooted in centuries-old tradition, stained glass continues to evolve, finding new expression in architectural projects that demand both technical precision and artistic vision.
Perth Art Glass is proud to be at the forefront. Under the leadership of Ian Dixon, one of the few professionally certified Leadlight Glaziers in Western Australia, the studio has brought stained glass into dialogue with modern architecture, creating works that honour heritage while embracing innovation.
From the swirling suspended sculpture of 180 fused glass fish at the Aegis Coogee Aged Care Facility to the monumental mosaic triptych at the Syriac Orthodox Church, Perth Art Glass has demonstrated an extraordinary ability to translate architectural intent into glasswork that resonates with meaning. Each project is a collaboration between designer, client, and craftsman, resulting in installations that are not only visually striking but deeply integrated into their environments.
In historic buildings, such as the Presbyterian Church in Peppermint Grove, our team has restored century-old windows with reverence and care, uncovering stories hidden in the mortar and glass. Meanwhile, bespoke entry statements and large-scale wall artworks have transformed corridors and lobbies into immersive experiences, as seen in our work for Aegis Shoreline and other special commissions.
“Glass is more than a surface—it’s a storyteller. Whether casting morning light across a mosaic of saints or echoing the movement of ocean life in a suspended sculpture, architectural glass invites us to see space differently. It reframes the ordinary and elevates the everyday.”
