Saint James Parish Church in Moora
Moora is located in the wheat belt of Western Australia just over two hours’ drive, North East of Perth. This window design was inspired by dappled light you see when you look through the tree canopy with eyes almost shut and the pixelated colour dances across your eyes. The second image shows that colour being projected into the Church. To achieve this we selected Lambert’s Mouth Blown Antique glass for the project as it truly is the most beautiful glass. One of the issues we had to deal with was the Ultra Violet light bleaching the timber inside the church. To overcome this problem we turned the panels into double glazed units with a UV filter glass on the outside giving 100% UV protection.
Moora Baptistery Windows
The second stage of windows for Saint James Parish Church, these three windows for the Baptistery. This window design tells the story of the cycle of life, Wheat, something all of the community in Moora could relate to, tells the story. It also references growth within the church as these windows are in the baptistery. It took some time to clean out the old steel sash putty and prepare the frames for the new glass. Once again, we selected Lambert’s Mouth Blown Antique glass for the project as it truly is the most beautiful glass. Again, to overcome the UV problem we turned the panels into double glazed units with a UV filter glass on the outside giving 100% UV protection.
